This policy explains how Sighthound Studios Pty Ltd (ABN 69 693 531 887) collects, uses, stores and discloses personal information. It covers this website and the forms on it.
We're a small Australian business. Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), businesses with an annual turnover of $3 million or less are generally exempt from the Australian Privacy Principles. We've chosen to handle personal information in line with those principles anyway, because the people who contact us are usually trusting us with something before they've met us.
What we collect
When you contact us — If you fill in an enquiry form, book a call, phone us or send an email, we collect your name, email address, phone number if you give it, your organisation, and whatever you tell us about your project.
When you apply to crew with us — If you submit the crew form, we collect your name, contact details, role, rates if you supply them, your showreel or portfolio links, and your availability.
When you subscribe to our newsletter — We collect your email address, and your name if you give it.
When you browse the site — Our website host and analytics tools automatically collect technical information including your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you visit, and the site that referred you. We use this in aggregate to understand what people read. We don't use it to identify individuals.
When you appear in our work — If you're filmed or recorded as part of a production, we collect your image, voice and anything you share on camera. That's handled under a separate release or production agreement, not under this policy. Ask us for a copy of the release at any time.
Why we collect it
- To answer your enquiry and quote on work
- To deliver productions we've been engaged to make
- To engage and pay crew
- To send you our newsletter, if you asked for it
- To improve the website
- To meet our tax, accounting and legal obligations
We don't sell personal information, and we don't trade in it.
Who we share it with
We use third-party services to run the business. When you use this site, your information may pass through:
- Webflow — website hosting and form submissions (United States)
- Typeform — enquiry and crew forms (European Union and United States)
- Google — business email, and website analytics where you've accepted analytics cookies (United States)
- Our accountant and, where required, our bank and the Australian Taxation Office
Some of these providers store data outside Australia. By using this site and its forms, you consent to that overseas disclosure. Each provider is bound by its own privacy terms, which you can read on their websites.
We share production material with crew and suppliers only as far as they need it to do the job, and they're bound by confidentiality terms.
Cookies
This site uses cookies. There are two kinds.
Necessary cookies make pages load, keep forms working and remember your cookie choice. The site doesn't work properly without them, so they're always on.
Analytics cookies tell us which pages people read, how long they stay and how they found us. We use this to decide what to write next. These stay off until you accept them.
You can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings link in the footer, or block and delete cookies through your browser settings. If you block the necessary ones, parts of the site may stop working.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept for as long as there's an active or reasonably foreseeable working relationship, and then for seven years to meet our tax and record-keeping obligations. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Crew submissions are kept for two years unless you ask us to remove them sooner.
How we protect it
Information is held in access-controlled accounts with the providers listed above. Production media is stored on encrypted drives and backed up. Access is limited to the people working on your project. No system is perfectly secure, and we won't pretend otherwise, but we take it seriously and we'll tell you promptly if something goes wrong that affects you.
Marketing and unsubscribing
We only send marketing emails to people who've asked for them or who we've worked with. Every email has a working unsubscribe link, and we action opt-outs promptly. You can also unsubscribe by emailing us at the address below.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us and we'll respond within 30 days. There's no charge. If we can't do what you've asked, we'll tell you why in writing.
Complaints
If you think we've mishandled your personal information, contact us first and we'll try to sort it out. If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your complaint, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page if how we handle information changes. The date at the top tells you when it was last revised.
